Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Special Tactical Squad (STS) have arrested three suspected members of a car-snatching syndicate allegedly operating across Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recovering two suspected stolen vehicles during coordinated operations.
The suspects, identified as Ahmed Saidu, aka Diamond; Alex Gabriel, aka Junior; and Ahmed Mahudu, also known as Diamond, were arrested during operations conducted between August 14 and 19, 2026.
The recovered vehicles include a red Toyota Corolla and an army-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said actionable intelligence linked the suspects to several armed robbery operations involving the alleged theft of vehicles at gunpoint.
According to the police, interrogation of the suspects led investigators to Yakubu Yewa, aka Y/Come, who was identified as the alleged leader of the syndicate.
Yewa is currently being held at the Kuje Correctional Centre while standing trial in an armed robbery case.
The police alleged that Yewa coordinated the syndicate’s operations and facilitated the movement and disposal of stolen vehicles within Nigeria and outside the country.
The Force said investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other suspected members of the syndicate and determine the full extent of its criminal activities.
