Youth leaders across the 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State have resolved to strengthen grassroots mobilisation and build a united youth leadership structure ahead of the forthcoming general election.
The resolution was contained in a statement issued by the Ogun State Youth Leader and Ogun State Coordinator for the Atiku Campaign, Hon. Kazeem Baiyewu.
According to Baiyewu, all Local Government and Ward Youth Leaders across the state have agreed to work together to improve coordination, strengthen grassroots structures and mobilise support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidates.
He said the youth leadership was committed to supporting former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate; Otunba Adebisi Jimi Lawal, the gubernatorial candidate, as well as other ADC candidates contesting various elective positions in Ogun State.
Baiyewu noted that the group had established a grassroots structure across the state’s 20 Local Government Areas, with Ward Youth Leaders prepared to mobilise residents and expand the party’s presence at the grassroots.
He also disclosed that the youth leadership had reached an understanding with the Ogun State National Students, who, according to him, expressed their willingness to work with and support the youth structure.
The Ogun State Youth Leader further said the group had reached out to the Arewa community leadership in the state, adding that the community had demonstrated willingness to collaborate with the youth leadership in pursuit of their political objectives.
He described the development as the beginning of a broader coalition founded on unity, coordination, inclusion and grassroots mobilisation.
Baiyewu said the youth leaders would continue to work towards securing support for Atiku Abubakar, Adebisi Jimi Lawal and other ADC candidates across Ogun State in the coming general election.
