The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has confirmed that seven persons were killed in a multiple road traffic crash along the Ibafo-Lagos corridor at Kara, Ibafo, Ogun State.
The fatal crash occurred at about 12:03 a.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, and involved nine male victims. Seven of them died in the crash, while two others sustained injuries.
According to the FRSC, three vehicles were involved in the accident: a white HOWO CNG/CIMC ENRIC, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter with registration number JJJ920YA.
The FRSC Ibafo Outpost Command received the crash report at about 00:04 a.m. and arrived at the scene five minutes later, at approximately 00:09 a.m.
The crash was classified as a fatal multiple road traffic crash, with speed violation identified as the probable cause, although the agency said further investigation would be conducted.
The deceased victims were evacuated from the scene by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the two injured victims were taken to a medical facility for treatment.
The crashed vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibafo, for further necessary action.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to avoid excessive speeding, maintain safe following distances and remain vigilant while driving.
He also advised motorists to exercise extra caution at night, noting that reduced visibility and fatigue could increase the risk of road traffic crashes.
The FRSC commiserated with the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
