A reconciliation meeting aimed at promoting unity among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State ended in tragedy on Friday following the sudden death of the party’s council chairman, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon.
Solomon reportedly collapsed while participating in the meeting, which was convened to strengthen unity and resolve differences among APC stakeholders in the area.
The meeting was organised by one of the former chairmen of the party’s local government chapter, Funsho Olumoko, as part of efforts to foster greater cooperation among members.
According to reports, Solomon suddenly fell during the gathering, throwing participants into confusion as they attempted to assist him.
He was immediately taken to a hospital in Kabba for medical attention but reportedly died shortly after his arrival.
The incident reportedly left APC members and other stakeholders at the meeting shocked, as the gathering had been focused on reconciliation and strengthening the party ahead of future political activities.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of Solomon’s sudden death had not been officially disclosed.
