In a renewed demonstration of his commitment to education and youth empowerment, Hon. Akhigbe Kolade John on Friday, August 21, 2026, distributed 100 GCE forms to pupils and students from Kosofe Constituency.
The impactful initiative, held at Emmanuel Primary School, Ojota, Lagos, attracted an array of political leaders and stakeholders, including former All Progressives Congress Women Leader, Hajia Salamatu, representatives of Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe; Lagos State House of Assembly candidate for Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency II, Hon. Makinde Rasheed Lanre; and Kosofe Constituency II APC House of Assembly candidate, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon, alongside other dignitaries, including Kosofe Ward C and F APC party Chairmen.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Akhigbe Kolade John appreciated the dignitaries, parents, pupils and other guests for honouring his invitation and supporting the initiative.
He explained that his inspiration was drawn from the educational legacy of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State, particularly the free WAEC initiative for public school students, from which he personally benefited.
According to him, the experience inspired him to give back to society by providing educational opportunities for young people in his community.
Some beneficiaries and parents who spoke with the media expressed their appreciation for Hon. Akhigbe’s gesture. They include Mrs. Tiamiyu Sekinat, Adekunle Imole Ayo, Deborah Williams and Blessing Enobohse, who commended the initiative and described it as timely support for families facing the rising cost of education.
In another demonstration of his generosity, Hon. Akhigbe Kolade John also provided transportation money for the parents and pupils present at the event to enable them return safely to their various destinations.
The initiative is part of the activities of the Glade Crescent Foundation for Youth Empowerment, through which Hon. Akhigbe Kolade John began the distribution of free GCE forms in 2020 as part of his commitment to giving back to his community and supporting educational development.
Through the years, the initiative has continued to reflect his belief that education remains one of the strongest foundations for building a prosperous and empowered society.
