Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has renewed his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Adeleke made the declaration on Sunday shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of the Osun governorship election.
The governor, while thanking those who contributed to the conduct of the election, commended Tinubu for what he described as his commitment to ensuring a free and fair electoral process in the state.
Adeleke described Tinubu as a son of Osun State and reaffirmed his earlier endorsement of the President for the 2027 presidential election.
“At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election.
“President Tinubu is son of Osun State and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election,” Adeleke said.
The governor’s statement came after Tinubu had congratulated him on his victory in the governorship election.
INEC declared Adeleke the winner after he defeated the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.
Adeleke secured 511,067 votes after winning in 19 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji polled 444,815 votes from 11 Local Government Areas.
The result gives Adeleke another term as governor of Osun State and further places his endorsement of Tinubu at the centre of political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
