Senator representing Osun East in the National Assembly, Francis Fadahunsi, has appeared at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo following an invitation by the police over an alleged threat against members of the Accord Party.
Fadahunsi arrived at about 2:35 pm on Wednesday in the company of the Commissioner of Police in charge of election and security, Samuel Etaifo.
The senator and Francis Eniade, the All Progressives Congress candidate for Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, were accused of making threatening comments against Accord Party members ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The controversy followed a video circulated on social media on Tuesday in which Fadahunsi, speaking in Yoruba, allegedly said Accord members seen in Ilesa before the election should be killed.
The alleged statement sparked reactions from the Accord Party and other political stakeholders, with calls for security agencies to investigate the matter.
Fadahunsi’s appearance at the police headquarters is expected to form part of the investigation into the alleged comments.
The police have yet to disclose details of their interaction with the senator or whether any formal charges have been filed.
The development comes amid heightened political activities in the state ahead of Saturday’s governorship election, with security agencies warning against acts capable of disrupting the electoral process.
