Vigilant residents along IBB Road in Kano have foiled an attempt to steal a commercial tricycle, leading to the arrest of a 27-year-old suspect by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In a statement issued on Thursday, the NSCDC identified the suspect as Nasiru Sulaiman, an indigene of Babura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
According to the corps, the suspect allegedly devised a plan by sending the tricycle rider on an errand before disconnecting the ignition key in an attempt to make away with the vehicle.
However, his actions reportedly aroused suspicion among nearby residents, who quickly intercepted him before he could flee with the tricycle.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to NSCDC operatives for further investigation.
The corps said investigations have been concluded and that the suspect will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
