The Nigerian Army has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over allegations that he illegally sold and supplied military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
The announcement was made on Thursday in a statement issued by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps, Major Oluwatope Dorcas Aluko.
According to the statement, preliminary investigations revealed that Amutu, who was attached to the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026, prompting military authorities to declare him wanted.
The Army said efforts are underway to locate and apprehend the soldier so he can face a full investigation and disciplinary action in accordance with military regulations.
Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on misconduct, the Nigerian Army stressed that any personnel found to have aided terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of military and civil laws.
The Corps also appealed to members of the public to assist security agencies with credible information that could lead to Amutu’s arrest, urging anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or other security agency.
The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps reiterated its commitment to professionalism, accountability and the protection of military assets, assuring Nigerians that all allegations of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated and offenders brought to justice.
