The recent media grandstanding by an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Kayode Oladele, asserting that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is no longer the party of choice in Ogun State, is not only laughable but a classic case of political delusion. It must be stated unequivocally that it is completely out of his place to make such a sweeping declaration.
Kayode Oladele does not speak for the good people of Ogun State, he cannot represent their collective conscience, and he lacks the moral authority to dictate their political preferences. While his paymaster Senator Olamilekan Adeola on paid media narratives to create a false sense of dominance, the stark reality on the ground is that the peace, structural stability, and progress currently being enjoyed within the Ogun State PDP stand in total contrast to the chaotic, factional warfare tearing the APC apart.
If Oladele wants to talk about fractures and crises, he should first look within his own house. The toxic internal democracy of the APC in Ogun State has reached a point where the party routinely executes the absolute imposition of candidates under the deceptive guise of a “consensus.” This high-handedness and lack of internal justice was laid completely bare to the entire nation in Princess Iyabo Obasanjo’s recent resignation letter, which stripped the APC of any democratic pretense.
The APC is a house divided against itself, sustained only by state apparatus and political coercion, whereas the PDP has systematically rebuilt its house, aligning as a unified, formidable force ready to rescue the state in 2027.
Furthermore, one wonders what Oladele has to say regarding the sub-standard, shoddy infrastructure jobs his paymaster is executing across the state using taxpayers’ hard-earned money.
His paymaster has perfected the art of grandstanding—staging elaborate media events to claim they have executed monumental projects, while the actual structures fail under the first sign of rainfall. The people of Ogun State have witnessed ridiculous situations where projects are diverted, and the Project Signage explicitly displays a completely different location from where the actual superficial work is being carried out.
Oladele should save his breath and instead advise his paymaster, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (popularly known as Yayi), that the deeply learned, exposed, and experienced people of Ogun State cannot be bamboozled by make-believe, cosmetic projects hurriedly funded by government resources simply to capture the state’s political soul for selfish aggrandizement.
If the APC Candidate is proud of his record, we challenge him to show us on Ogun State roads, the hundreds of mini-buses (*korope*) and tricycles he claimed to have been gifting to the citizens for the past three years.
Where are they? After the heavy media show-off and manipulative photo-ops, those vehicles completely vanished from the face of Ogun State, leaving the masses stranded in an economy already battered by the ruling party’s harsh national policies.
In sharp and refreshing contrast, the PDP is immensely proud to showcase a candidate in the person of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, a man who has lived, invested, and breathed the air of Ogun State with his people all his life after his schooling. He is not a political tourist or a seasonal visitor.
Coming from a family with a stellar, unblemished heritage, Hon. Adebutu has consistently made meaningful, verifiable impacts across education, healthcare, security, and community development, even providing massive structural support directly to the Ogun State Government itself over the decades.
His philanthropic and community footprints are entirely unmatched by any political actor in the state:
Hon. Adebutu has personally purchased and donated over 700 units of 500KVA electricity transformers distributed across all 20 Local Government Areas of Ogun State, restoring light to hundreds of communities completely abandoned by the incumbent government.
During the dark days of the 2020 pandemic lockdown, he did not hide in Lagos or Abuja. He stood firmly with the people of Ogun State, providing consistent weekly palliatives. Throughout the entire four-month sit-at-home period, he donated two live cows and three pigs to *each* of the 20 Local Governments on a weekly basis.
These animals came directly from his flourishing personal farm in Iperu—a mega-agricultural enterprise that continues to thrive today with over 3,000 heads of cattle, 25,000 pigs, and hundreds of rams.
Hon. Adebutu is a heavy investor in the local economy and a major employer of labor, keeping over 2,000 staff gainfully employed right here in Ogun State, with a significant number of these workers having served loyally in his establishments for 10 to 15 years.
Hon. Adebutu has repeatedly demonstrated genuine passion and an unwavering commitment to the development of his home state. He has an unassailable integrity, no questionable character traits nor any fraudulent act, and therefore, has absolutely no reason to change his name or forge his identity. He is, and has always been, a transparent man of the people.
His deep understanding of Ogun politics and his commitment to true equity were further amplified by his strategic choice of a female Egba Islamic and community leader as his running mate—a brilliant move that showcases his inclusive tendencies and respect for all demographics.
It is highly interesting to note that Kayode Oladele himself recently admitted in one of his write-ups that Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) is not an indigene of Ogun State, desperately arguing that State of Origin is not backed by the Nigerian Constitution as a prerequisite to contest an election. Let Oladele and his cohorts be served this stern reminder: this is Ogun State, the cradle of Nigerian civilization, education, and sophistication. We are not gullible.
We possess an abundance of highly competent, brilliant, and deeply qualified indigenes right here at home, and we are absolutely not in the business of importing political proxies or carpetbaggers from Ekiti or Lagos to come and govern us.
The overwhelming support the people of Ogun State have for Hon. Ladi Adebutu was made resoundingly clear during the 2023 general elections, and that popular mandate will be repeated even more decisively in 2027. No amount of media propaganda or revisionist commentary from political jobbers can alter this course.
Therefore, Oladele should do his party a favor and advise his paymaster, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), to wrap up his political baggage and return to where he truly belongs in Alimosho, Lagos, because Ogun people are wise, discerning, and have completely chosen the PDP as their vehicle for true liberation.
