Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has thanked voters for his re-election, calling the outcome a “clear message” and “clean sweep” after winning in all 16 local government areas of the state.
In a post on his X handle Sunday, Oyebanji said the scale of victory showed Ekiti people’s strong vote of confidence in his administration. “The voice of the people has reverberated from every part of our great state, and the message is clear,” he wrote.
The governor said he was “deeply humbled” by the results, which he claimed gave him about 85 per cent of the popular vote across urban centres and remote communities.
“From our urban centres to our most remote communities, you have spoken with one thunderous voice for continuous development, stability, and a future of endless opportunities,” Oyebanji stated.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier declared the All Progressives Congress candidate winner after he polled 319,224 votes. PDP’s Olumayokun Oluyede secured 40,533 votes, while ADC’s Dare Bejide got 12,872 votes.
Oyebanji said the renewed mandate places greater responsibility on his government to deepen development and ensure impact reaches every household. “This mandate means that our work must touch every household even deeper,” he noted.
He also stressed unity, adding that the election had no winners or losers. “There are no winners or losers today, there is only one united Ekiti determined to continue its journey of upward mobility,” the governor said.
Oyebanji pledged to govern with humility, fairness and dedication during his second term. He promised to consolidate reforms in infrastructure, agriculture, education and healthcare that defined his first term.
“I pledge to honour this immense trust by continuing to lead with humility, dedication and fairness. Thank you, Ekiti Kete, for making history with us,” he concluded, as celebrations continued across the state.
