The Nigeria Union of Journalists has extended warm congratulations to the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, as he celebrates his 66th birthday alongside seven years of what the union described as purposeful, impactful and people-oriented governance in the state.
In a congratulatory message jointly signed by the Chairman of the council, Wale Olanrewaju, and the Secretary, Bunmi Adigun, the union applauded Governor Abiodun’s commitment to sustainable development and good governance since assuming office in 2019.
The council noted that under the governor’s leadership and the implementation of the ISEYA development agenda, Ogun State has witnessed remarkable progress across critical sectors, including infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, industrialisation and youth empowerment.
According to the union, the administration’s developmental strides have significantly improved the living conditions of residents while strengthening Ogun State’s position as one of Nigeria’s leading destinations for investment and economic advancement.
The Ogun NUJ also commended Governor Abiodun for maintaining a cordial and productive relationship with the media, describing him as a leader who appreciates the vital role journalists play in deepening democracy and promoting accountability in governance.
The union further praised the governor for supporting press freedom, encouraging professionalism within the media industry and creating an enabling atmosphere for journalists to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities without intimidation.
Describing the governor as a humble, visionary and peace-loving leader, the union stated that his inclusive style of governance and dedication to public service have continued to attract admiration from both within and outside Ogun State.
“As Governor Dapo Abiodun marks this double celebration, we acknowledge his unwavering passion for good governance and his commitment to the socio-economic growth of Ogun State,” the statement added.
The union prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, strength and good health for the governor, while wishing him many more years of impactful leadership and greater accomplishments in service to humanity and the people of Ogun State.
