Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has urged Nigerians to stop disclosing information about troops’ movements, warning that such actions endanger the lives of security personnel battling banditry Speaking briefly with journalists after visiting three soldiers receiving treatment for injuries sustained in a recent bandits’ ambush on Tuesday, the governor said some militants depend on intelligence leaked by informants to lay deadly traps for the military.
He described the act as “sabotage,” stressing that security operatives are making enormous sacrifices to keep the country safe. Governor AbdulRazaq was received at the hospital by the Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Nicholas Rume, and the Chief Medical Director, Prof Abdullah Yussuf.
He condoled with the families of the three soldiers killed in the attack and announced N20m each for the families of the deceased and N5m each for the wounded soldiers. “We are here to visit the soldiers who were ambushed by bandits. Unfortunately, we lost three of them and we have three of them receiving treatment in the hospital here.
“What we can do is to pray for them and support the families of those who died. May their souls rest in peace,” he said. The governor praised the military for its selfless service, noting that the incident underscores the daily risks security personnel face.
