In commemoration of Global Recycling Day 2026, the Rotary Club of Obantoko District 9111 donated recycling bins to Olikoye Ransom-Kuti Memorial Hospital.
The donation ceremony took place on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the hospital premises in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Speaking at the event, the President of the club, Iyabo Omotoke Ilesanmi (PHF), who is also the club’s first female president, expressed delight over the successful execution of the project.
She noted that the initiative would promote hygiene, support faster patient recovery, enhance the hospital environment, and improve the well-being of nurses and doctors.
She added that the project aligns with efforts to foster cleaner communities, inspire sustainable habits, and promote a healthier future through proper waste management and a strong recycling culture.
Ilesanmi further assured that more impactful projects are underway during her tenure, emphasizing that with continued support from members and stakeholders, the club would sustain its positive impact on hospitals and communities.
She also highlighted past interventions of the club, including borehole installations, educational support, and health initiatives for the less privileged.
In his response, the Chief Medical Director, Olujimi Dipeolu, expressed appreciation to the Rotary Club for the donation. He noted that the hospital had long been in need of recycling bins and stressed that patients, their relatives, and hospital staff would greatly benefit from the initiative.
The hospital management also thanked the Rotary Club for selecting their facility among many hospitals in Abeokuta for the project.
The event was attended by members of the hospital’s management team as well as members of the Rotary Club of Obantoko, Abeokuta.
