The Ondo State Police Command has arrested three suspects and rescued three victims in connection with an alleged kidnapping incident captured on a Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) camera in Oda, Akure.
The suspects, identified as Mohammed Koro, Muhammad Usman, and Musa Alhaji, were arrested following the circulation of the CCTV footage on social media showing the abduction of a victim by suspected criminals in the Oda area of Akure.
According to DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the command’s spokesperson, the police immediately activated its intelligence team, leveraging digital surveillance analysis and coordinated field operations to identify and apprehend the suspects.
The police operation was a result of the command’s commitment to combating crime and criminality in the state.
The suspects have made useful confessional statements, which are aiding ongoing efforts to ensure the arrest of other syndicate members.
The rescued victims, Tosin Adesida, Adeniran Adesuyi, and Adewunmi Adewusi, have been debriefed and taken to the nearest hospital for medical attention.
Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal reiterated the command’s commitment to combating crime and criminality, emphasizing that Ondo State will not serve as a safe haven for criminals.
He warned that regardless of where they choose to hide, they will be relentlessly tracked down and made to face the full weight of the law.
The Ondo State Police Command has established a Tactical Team Base in Ilu-Abo to curb kidnapping and violent crimes, conducting intensive patrols, surveillance, and intelligence gathering. Residents are encouraged to provide credible information to aid these efforts.
The police command has also intensified joint security operations, stop-and-search exercises, and intelligence-led raids targeting suspected kidnapping hideouts. These measures aim to prevent criminals from using the terrain as safe havens.
