Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin has urged Muslims to sustain the lessons of Ramadan and pray for global peace as they celebrate Eid-el-Fitr. In a statement, Jibrin commended President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to stabilize Nigeria’s economy and tackle insecurity.
Jibrin highlighted Tinubu’s directive for security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, aiming to flush out criminal elements and restore peace in the region. This move is seen as a significant step towards addressing the country’s security challenges.
The deputy senate president disbursed N157 million to constituents in Kano North Senatorial District, aiming to support residents during the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. He also distributed over 60,000 bags of food items across Kano North and other parts of the state.
Jibrin emphasized the importance of unity, tolerance, and support for the needy, saying, “Let’s spread love and help people in need during and after the festive period.” He urged Muslims to reflect on the values of Ramadan and apply them in their daily lives.
The Sultanate Council declared March 20 as the first day of Shawwal 1447 AH, marking Ramadan’s end. This declaration was made in line with Islamic traditions and marked the beginning of Eid-el-Fitr celebrations across Nigeria.
