The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Abeokuta has clarified the management of funds donated to the family of a set of quadruplets recently delivered at the facility.
The hospital’s management confirmed that all medical bills have been settled by the hospital administration.
This clarification comes after the hospital received a N2 million donation from a philanthropist known online as ‘beardedsina’. The donation was made to support the family of the quadruplets.
However, officials corrected a potential misunderstanding regarding the purpose of the donation.
According to the Head of Information and Public Relations, Olugbemisola Olatunji, the hospital’s Management had already taken full responsibility for the medical expenses of both the mother and the quadruplets.
This decision was made pursuant to directives from the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, and the Board Chairman, Dr. Dayo Israel. As a result, the donated funds will be redirected to support the family’s other essential needs.
The statement from FMC Abeokuta expressed gratitude to the donor for his kindness. “The donated amount is greatly appreciated and will be utilized for other essential needs of the mother and the babies, such as nutritional support, baby care essentials, and other welfare requirements,” the statement read.
The hospital’s management encouraged other well-meaning individuals and groups to extend similar support to the family during this critical period. “We appreciate this gesture and encourage others to join in supporting this deserving family in their time of need,” the statement added.
The FMC Abeokuta reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to the well-being of the mother and her children. The hospital’s actions demonstrate its dedication to providing quality healthcare services to the community.
