The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a mobilisation initiative, ‘One ADC Movement’, aimed at strengthening party unity and preparing members for the 2027 general election.
The initiative was unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday, with former chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Lauretta Onochie, emphasizing the importance of unity within the party.
Onochie stated that the movement is designed to reinforce unity within the party, noting that collective interest must take precedence over individual ambitions. She urged all supporters to work together for meaningful results, saying, “The movement is to help strengthen our unity at all levels”.
The ADC’s initiative comes as Nigerians are watching the political landscape with expectations and concerns, particularly about whether political parties can overcome internal divisions and serve the people effectively.
Onochie emphasized that unity is the greatest strength of any political party, saying, “Nigerians are asking an important question: can political parties rise above internal divisions and truly serve the people? Our answer today is yes”.
The One ADC Movement is built on the principle that unity is key to achieving common goals. Onochie described political parties as communities where members work together toward common goals despite differences. The movement aims to foster reconciliation where disagreements exist and promote collective interest over individual ambitions.
The ADC has been working to strengthen its grassroots structure, launching a membership revalidation, mobilisation, and registration exercise in Oyo State. The party’s national leadership, including National Chairman Senator David Mark and National Secretary Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, have been working to expand the party’s influence.
The ADC’s efforts are focused on building a formidable opposition coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party has outlined key standards for aspirants contesting on its platform, including character, competence, courage, and discipline.
The One ADC Movement is expected to become visible across the country, working tirelessly towards defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. The movement’s director of mobilisation, Umar Shuiabu, emphasized that the party is committed to achieving its goals.
The ADC’s initiative has been welcomed by stakeholders, who believe it’s a step in the right direction towards ensuring accountability and transparency in the management of public funds.
