The Police Service Commission (PSC) has officially commenced the physical and credential screening for 50,000 police constable applicants, marking a significant milestone in the recruitment process.
The screening exercise is scheduled to take police constable applicants through a rigorous verification process to ensure only the most qualified candidates are selected to join the Nigeria Police Force.
The screening exercise, which will run from March 9 to April 18, 2026, across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is a critical step in the recruitment process.
Applicants who successfully completed the online registration are required to log in to the recruitment portal, (link unavailable), to check their status and print essential documents for the screening.
According to the PSC spokesperson, Torty Njoku Kalu, the documents to be presented at the screening venue include the Guarantors form, Application Submission Slip, Invitation Slip, Credentials Screening Form, and Physical Screening Form.
Applicants are also expected to present original and duplicate copies of their credentials, neatly packaged in two separate white flat files, with recent passport photographs attached.
The required documents for screening are: Invitation Slip, Credential Screening Form, Original National Identity Number (NIN) printout or Card, O’ Level Certificate, Birth Certificate or Declaration of age, LGA/State of Origin Certificate, and Trade Test/Certificate for specialists.
It is essential for applicants to ensure they have all the necessary documents before attending the screening.
Applicants are also required to wear white canvas shoes, white T-shirts, white shorts, and white stockings to the screening venues. This is to ensure a standardized and fair process for all applicants.
The Chairman of the PSC, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), has emphasized that the recruitment exercise is absolutely free, with no financial obligations. He assured that the process would be conducted transparently and accountably, warning applicants to be cautious of online scammers and impostors who may try to take advantage of the situation.
The screening exercise aims to strengthen the Nigeria Police Force by recruiting qualified individuals to support community policing and internal security efforts. The PSC is committed to ensuring that the process is fair, transparent, and merit-based.
The PSC has urged applicants to regularly check the official recruitment portal and PSC announcements for updates and information on the screening exercise. This is to ensure that applicants are well-informed and prepared for the screening process.
