A delegation of student leaders and stakeholders from across Ogun State met with the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Olusegun Elemide, to commend his commitment to public service and developmental initiatives while raising key concerns affecting students and residents.
The meeting, held on February 19, 2026, brought together representatives from the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Ogun stakeholders, led by Comr. Ekundina Oluwasegun Elvis, Comr. Francis Adeyanju, and Comr. Oshodi Olayinka, alongside the Deputy Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES), Comr. Oyenekan Richard.
Also present were the Senate President of the National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOOS), Dst. Sen. Olabode Tayo, and delegates from the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta Students’ Union (FCEASU), led by SUG President Comr. Akinlabi Abraham, Emeritus President Comr. Dokunmu David Adebowale, and Comr. Osedebe Hannah, as well as representatives of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta Students’ Union (FUNAABSU).
The delegation praised the Speaker for his relentless efforts in improving infrastructure and living conditions in Odeda and across Ogun State. They specifically highlighted his swift response when students planned to protest over poor road conditions, noting that instead of allowing tensions to escalate, he engaged them directly, assured them of action, and has already begun addressing the issue.
Rt. Hon. Elemide further pledged that the road from Odeda Local Government Secretariat to Moore Junction would soon receive attention, a commitment the students expressed confidence in. They also appreciated his recent free JAMB support initiative, through which he provided study spaces for indigent students to prepare effectively for their examinations.
Discussions also covered the bridge project opposite the college campus, with students expressing satisfaction that the project has not been abandoned. The Speaker assured them he would engage the contractor to accelerate construction, emphasizing that the project benefits not only students but all citizens, noting that he personally facilitated its execution.
Another major concern raised was the waste disposal site at the market area in Osiele. The delegation explained that its location causes environmental pollution and health challenges for students and residents due to irregular evacuation of refuse, appealing for urgent intervention to improve waste management in the area.
The Speaker also informed participants that the stone filling along the Osiele market road is being sponsored by him, adding that such interventions are part of his ongoing personal contributions to community development, reflecting his hands-on approach to leadership.
In recognition of his support and dedication, the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta delegation presented a souvenir to the Speaker as a token of appreciation for his service to students and the wider community, describing him as a leader who genuinely cares for citizens.
Stakeholders concluded by noting Rt. Hon. Elemide’s modest leadership style, emphasizing that he focuses on impact rather than publicity, believing that the lives he touches will speak on his behalf. They described his dedication as a reflection of a strong sense of responsibility to the people who entrusted him with leadership.
