The Adamawa State Government has called on residents to turn out en masse to welcome President Bola Tinubu, who begins a one‑day working visit on Monday.
In a Sunday announcement, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Iliya James, said temporary road closures will be enforced to secure the President’s movements.
Affected routes include Airport–Kofare Road through Galadima Aminu Way/Bank Road, Jimeta Grade Interchange/Police Roundabout, Justice Buba Ardo Way, and Adamawa Sunshine Express–Faro Road, among others. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes while the closures are in effect.
“Residents are kindly urged to come out peacefully to welcome Mr. President to our dear State, and motorists should make use of alternative routes for their lawful activities during the period of the closure,” the statement read, adding appreciation for public cooperation.
Tinubu’s itinerary features the inauguration of several projects completed under Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s administration. He will unveil a newly built underpass at former Bekaji Roundabout, the expanded Bank Road in Yola, and a model school in Yola North, one of 21 such schools recently constructed across the state.
The President will also perform the groundbreaking ceremony for a new permanent NYSC orientation camp in Malkohi, commission an ultra‑modern High Court Complex, unveil the automated gate at Government House, and inaugurate the newly constructed Governor’s Office complex.
“These projects span key sectors including education, infrastructure, justice administration, governance, security, healthcare, and human capital development,” Iliya said, underscoring the broad impact of the initiatives.
To ensure a smooth visit, the Adamawa State Police Command has heightened security statewide. Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankombo, ordered deployment of the Police Mobile Force, Counter‑Terrorism Unit, Surveillance Squad, and Crowd/Traffic Control Unit, alongside covert operations.
Local community leaders have expressed optimism that the high‑profile visit will boost confidence in government projects and attract further investment to Adamawa. They encourage citizens to maintain peace and order throughout the day’s activities.
Business owners along the affected corridors have been advised to adjust operations and expect increased foot traffic, while transport unions are coordinating shuttle services to help residents navigate the temporary diversions.
As the state prepares for the historic visit, officials remind everyone that cooperation and patience will be key to a successful, incident‑free event that showcases Adamawa’s development strides.
