Troops of the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralized scores of terrorists and recovered arms and logistics items during sustained offensive operations under Operation DESERT SANITY V, according to a press release signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer.
In Sector 2, troops in conjunction with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) successfully neutralized scores of terrorists during a night operation around Muktum and Ngirbuwa villages in Yobe State. The operation resulted in the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, three motorcycles, and mobile phones.
Further exploitation along the terrorists’ withdrawal route revealed drag marks and a shallow grave, indicating additional enemy casualties. The operation’s success underscores the effectiveness of joint military-CJTF efforts in combating terrorism in the region.
In Sector 1, troops conducted operations along the Bulayobe–Darel Jamel axis, engaging fleeing terrorists attempting to cross the Main Supply Route. The terrorists fled in disarray, abandoning two sacks containing assorted logistics items suspected to be meant for terrorist elements.
The military authorities noted that the general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable. However, they maintained that troops’ morale and fighting efficiency remain high as they continue to dominate their areas of responsibility and frustrate terrorist activities.
The Headquarters OPHK reassured residents of the region of its resolve to sustain operations against insurgent groups. “The Headquarters OPHK reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to sustaining pressure on Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists until lasting peace and economic stability are fully restored in the North East region,” the statement said.
The operation’s outcome reflects the military’s ongoing efforts to degrade terrorist capabilities and restore security in affected areas. The recovery of arms and logistics items is expected to disrupt terrorist supply chains and hinder their operational effectiveness.
Residents of Yobe State have been urged to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies to ensure lasting peace. The military’s commitment to protecting citizens and defeating terrorism remains steadfast.
As operations continue, the Nigerian Army remains focused on achieving its objectives in the North East, with a determination to end terrorism and restore normalcy to affected communities.
