The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D, has received members of the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Ogun State Chapter, during a courtesy visit to the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
The delegation was led by the Chairman of the association, Mr. Olalekan Shoyinka, who formally introduced the newly elected executives of the chapter to the Commissioner of Police.
He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to supporting the Command through responsible dissemination of verified and credible security information to the public.
Mr. Shoyinka assured the police leadership of FIBAN’s continued cooperation in promoting public safety and strengthening the partnership between the media and security agencies in the state.
In his response, CP Ogunlowo commended the association for its cooperation and professionalism, emphasizing the crucial role of the media in maintaining peace and security. He urged broadcasters to uphold ethical standards and professionalism in their reportage, particularly on security matters.
The Police Commissioner also reiterated the Command’s openness to constructive criticism, noting that feedback from the media and members of the public remains vital to improving policing in Ogun State.
During the visit, CP Ogunlowo introduced the Ogun State Police Command’s digital security platform, Gateway Shield, designed to enhance public engagement and prompt reporting of security concerns.
