The Edo State Government has confirmed that Dr. Abu Ibrahim, the medical doctor who was kidnapped alongside his brother, has been discharged from the hospital and is recuperating at home.
His brother, unfortunately, lost his life during the abduction. Dr. Ibrahim was released after a N50m ransom was paid and is now focusing on healing and honouring his brother’s memory.
His father, Tahir Momoh, confirmed the development and released a statement from his son, expressing deep gratitude to Nigerians and others who supported the family during this difficult ordeal.
Dr. Ibrahim mourned his brother and vowed to carry on his legacy, saying, “He is gone, but he will never be forgotten. I carry his memory every day, and I pray that God grants me the wisdom, strength, and grace to fulfil his dreams and uphold the legacy he left behind.”
The Edo State Police Command had confirmed the abduction and security operatives, including the Auchi vigilantes and the police, worked tirelessly to secure the release of the doctor.
Dr. Ibrahim thanked everyone who contributed to his release, including those who provided financial support, prayers, and emotional support, saying, “Your kindness reminded me that even in the darkest times, humanity, love, and compassion still shine brightly.”
The doctor’s brother was killed by the kidnappers, and Dr. Ibrahim sustained a gunshot wound during the incident, a stark reminder of the dangers faced by individuals and families in Nigeria.
The family has expressed appreciation to individuals and organizations that supported them during this difficult time, including Ambassador Chris Ighodalo, Engineer Ismael Saliu, and the Rotary Club.
The incident has highlighted concerns about security in the region, and the government is expected to take measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
