The Deputy Commander of Operations of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, DCN Oresajo Oyesanmi Michael, has commended the Peace Initiative Committee (PIC) for its proactive efforts toward promoting peace and tackling societal challenges.
DCN Oyesanmi described the committee’s initiative as a selfless service to society, noting that their actions go beyond personal interests to address broader social problems. He stressed that if more groups embraced similar peace-building efforts, social vices would be drastically reduced.
According to him, the NDLEA does not need to be persuaded to collaborate with the Peace Initiative Committee, as their activities align with the agency’s expectations. He assured the committee of the NDLEA’s readiness to partner with them at all times.
The Deputy Commander further stated that the NDLEA is willing to provide officers to educate and advise youths whenever the committee requires such engagement. He also made available the agency’s official contact line for the committee to share any vital and useful information.
In addition, he promised that the Ogun State NDLEA Command would delegate an officer to represent the agency at the Peace Initiative Committee’s forthcoming one-year anniversary celebration.
Also speaking, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State NDLEA, ASN Haris A. Musa, advised the committee to build strong relationships with students’ unions, noting that cultism and other social vices often originate within higher institutions.
Similarly, ACN Oluseyi Morakinyo, Assistant state commander drug demand deduction unit, applauded the Peace Initiative Committee for its dedication to curbing insecurity.
She described it as commendable for young people to come together for such a noble cause and reaffirmed the NDLEA’s readiness to work closely with the committee.
She added that NDLEA officers are always available to sensitise youths on the dangers of drug abuse whenever called upon.
Earlier, Oluwadamilare, a member of the Peace Initiative Committee and PRO II, welcomed participants to the meeting.
He introduced the association, outlined its objectives, and expressed the committee’s desire to collaborate with the NDLEA.
He also formally informed the agency of the committee’s forthcoming one-year anniversary and requested the presence of an NDLEA officer to deliver a goodwill message at the event.
