As concern grows among business owners and individuals about the new Tax Act set to begin on January 1, 2026, organisers of the Health and Business Conference (HBC 1.0) say the programme will help people understand the changes and clear common fears.
The conference is organised by policy advocate and entrepreneurship coach, Dr. Adeyinka Adegbite, also known as Omo-Baba-Tisa. It will hold on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Iwe-Iroyin Hall, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, by 12 noon.
Dr. Adegbite said the event became necessary after reports that some people plans to withdraw their money from banks before December 31, 2025, due to fear and wrong information about the new tax law.
According to the organisers, the conference will explain the Reformed Tax Law and how it will affect artisans, traders, small business owners and people in the informal sector, many of whom do not fully understand the new tax requirements.
The Chief Executive Officer of Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Dr. Babatunde Adeyemo, will serve as chairman of the event. A tax and development expert, Mr. Tunji Gbesan, will give the keynote lecture titled “Reformed Tax Law and the Informal Sector: Pathway to Inclusive Prosperity.”
The programme will also focus on health and productivity. A medical practitioner, Dr. (Mrs.) Funmi Akinlami, will speak on “Why Wellness Matters in Productivity.” Free medical checkups will be offered to all participants.
The organisers said the conference aims to bridge the information gap between the informal and formal sectors by bringing together government officials, health experts, banks and business professionals.
Dr. Adegbite added that the event will help people better understand government policies, support business growth, and guide participants to make good decisions ahead of the new tax law in 2026.
