In a landmark event aimed at boosting the nation’s security architecture, a total of One Thousand, One Hundred and Eighty-Seven 1,187 cadets were today commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force as Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs).
The grand Passing Out Parade for Regular Course 7, held at the Nigeria Police Academy, POLAC, in Wudil, Kano State, was presided over by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces,President Bola Tinubu
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, the President congratulated the new officers on the successful completion of their rigorous five-year training programme.
He charged them to embark on their professional duties with the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect for the rights of all citizens.
“The Federal Government remains unwavering in its commitment to the ongoing reform of the Nigeria Police Force, improved welfare for our personnel, and the enhancement of our overall operational capabilities,” the President stated,
The force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin in a statement noted that the graduating cadets have not only completed a demanding professional policing course but have also earned Bachelor’s degrees in various academic disciplines.
The dual-track training model equips them with the intellectual knowledge and practical skills required to tackle contemporary security challenges effectively.
In his address, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, commended the 1,187 new ASPs for their resilience, discipline, and dedication throughout their arduous training.
“The Nigeria Police Force congratulates you on this significant achievement, I must remind you, however, that effective policing is anchored on sound character, unwavering discipline, and professionalism.”
” You are now charged with the sacred duty of protecting the lives and property of our citizens, maintaining law and order, and contributing to the vital task of rebuilding public trust in the Nigeria Police Force.” the IGP stated
The ceremony was a colourful and well-attended affair, drawing a host of distinguished guests from within and outside the country.
The international community was represented by Shanta Emily Knowles, Head of the Royal Bahamas Police Force
The event was also graced by the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, representatives of the Service Chiefs, members of the National Assembly, heads of sister security agencies, and a multitude of senior serving and retired police officers.
The Nigeria Police force, through this graduation, reassures the Nigerian public of its continued determination to produce highly trained, educated, and professional officers capable of safeguarding the nation.
