The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has congratulated media icon, Aare Lai Labode, PhD, on his official installation as the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Egbaland, describing the honour as well-deserved and symbolic of his lifelong service to society.
Aare Labode was installed with the prestigious title by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, a recognition the NUJ says reflects his courage, leadership and dedication to the preservation of Egba culture.
In a statement signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Wale Olanrewaju and Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, the Union noted that Dr Labode has made outstanding contributions to media development, youth empowerment, community advancement, and the promotion of Egba heritage both within and outside Nigeria.
According to the statement, Labode’s elevation showcases the high level of respect he commands across the media landscape, as well as his reputation for integrity and purposeful leadership.
“This installation is a significant moment not only for Egbaland, but also for the journalism community in Ogun State,” the NUJ said, adding that Aare Labode’s passion for cultural preservation and public service continues to distinguish him as a man of honour.
The Union prayed for wisdom, strength, and divine guidance for the newly installed Aare Ona Kakanfo as he assumes his new role.
The NUJ also commended the Alake of Egbaland for sustaining cultural values and honouring individuals who have made meaningful contributions to society.
