The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken decisive action, expelling top members, including Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), as well as former Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, and others, for anti-party activities and disregard for court judgments.
The NEC also ratified the dissolution of State Executive Councils of Bauchi, Oyo, Zamfara, Yobe, Lagos, and Ekiti States. These decisions were taken at the 103rd NEC meeting of the party held in the party national secretariat in Abuja today.
Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Mohammed Abdulrahman, presented the memo for the expulsion, citing the affected party members’ disregard for court judgments, an action that brought the party into disrepute.
The NEC meeting’s Communique, read by National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, stated that the party will uphold truth, justice, discipline, and respect for the rule of law.
The expelled members include Adolphus Wabara, Olabode George, Ben N. Obi, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), Bala Mohammed, Oluseyi Makinde, Dauda Lawal, and others.
The NEC also directed the legal team and NWC to commence immediate constitutional action to recover seats of all elected officials who defected from the PDP.
A party-wide reconciliation initiative and nationwide membership audit and revalidation will begin ahead of the 2027 elections.
The PDP NEC affirmed that the era of indiscipline is over and the party will not bow to lawlessness or personal ambition.
