A coalition of senior Ogun politicians and civil‑society leaders has slapped a legal warning on the Ogun State Government, demanding an immediate halt to plans to raze the Commissioners’ Quarters and House of Assembly Quarters
Structures built by the 1976‑1979 military administration to make way for a brand‑new complex.
In a blistering letter invoking the Freedom of Information Act 2011, the group headed by Otuba Femi Patrick Sholuade (ADC Ogun Chairman), Dr. Abayomi Arabambi
National Publicity Secretary (Lp) and Chairman Egba New Initiative Agenda and Alhaji Moshood Adesina Member Cupp have formally requested four critical documents:
1. Certified True Copy of the budget approval (or any supplementary budget) passed by the Ogun State House of Assembly.
2. Certified True Copy of the Executive Council extracts approving demolition and reconstruction.
3. Certified True Copy of the Ministry of Housing memo seeking council approval.
4. Certified True Copy of the Executive Council’s final approval to the Ministry of Housing for the project.
The petitioners argue the buildings were erected exclusively for serving commissioners and legislators, and reallocating them to private parties would violate statutory purpose and public trust.
They also gave the state a deadline aligned with FOI timelines to furnish the documents, failing which they will seek a perpetual injunction in a competent court.
The notice names eight respondents, including:

2 Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun
3 Secretary to Ogun State Government , Mr Tokunbo Talabi
4 Ogun State Ministry of Housing
5 Commissioner For Housing, Chief Jagunmolu Akande
The move follows recent media reports confirming the state’s intention to rebuild the 49‑year‑old Assembly complex and quarters for “modernization and safety” after structural assessments flagged severe deterioration .
They however, claim the Gov. Dapo Abiodun led administration has not released any transparent justification or due process
