The Rotary Club of Abeokuta has conferred its Outstanding Media Personality Award on Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju, Chairman of the NUJ, Ogun State Council, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to journalism and steadfast commitment to the profession.
The award was presented during a courtesy visit to the NUJ Chairman’s office by Rotarian Iyabo Omotoke Ilesanmi, the 14th President and first female leader of the Rotary Club, Obantoko, District 9111.
President Ilesanmi described Olanrewaju as “a trusted storyteller and bold communicator whose professional integrity continues to inspire confidence in the journalism industry.”
She commended his role in advancing media development and his consistent advocacy for truth, accountability, and ethical reporting.
In his remarks, Comrade Olanrewaju, while expressing gratitude, said the award marked a significant milestone in his professional journey.
He assured that the NUJ would continue to partner with Rotary, especially during the forthcoming NUJ Press Week, to promote awareness of Rotary’s humanitarian programmes.
“This recognition is not for me alone. I dedicate it to all journalists in Ogun State whose resilience and commitment to truth continue to shape our society positively,” Olanrewaju stated.
He further assured that the NUJ under his leadership would continue to provide the Rotary Club of Obantoko with strong media support in advancing its community development initiatives
