Asiwaju of Orile Imo, High Chief Olakunle Olalekan Joseph, transformed his birthday celebration into a platform for impact, empowering over 100 residents and unveiling new community projects that reflect his commitment to progress.
At the colourful event held in Orile Imo, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, artisans, widows, and young entrepreneurs were given life-changing support. Beneficiaries received ₦200,000 each in cash, sewing machines, and hairdressing equipment tools meant to help them sustain their livelihoods and uplift their families.
Speaking with joy on Tuesday , Chief Joseph described himself as “the happiest man on earth”, noting that true fulfillment comes from giving back to one’s people
“I am very happy today when I see my people come together to celebrate me , the entire Imo traditional council, my family, my friends. God has assisted me, and I just want to give the little I have back to my people,” he said.
In addition to financial empowerment, the Asiwaju unveiled a new housing estate and affordable lock-up shops in Bara Community.
While the estate remains his personal investment, the shops, he revealed, will be handed over to the community and local government to ease access to affordable business spaces.
Commissioning the housing project, Hon. Soneye Damilola Kayode, who represents Obafemi Owode Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, said the initiative complements the efforts of Governor Dapo Abiodun in reducing housing deficits and promoting grassroots development.
“With all this empowerment and investment, Chief Joseph is really complementing government’s efforts in improving the welfare of our people.
“Governor Dapo Abiodun has already made huge strides in addressing housing deficits in the state, with projects such as the Kobape King’s Court Estate and many more. What Asiwaju has done in Bara aligns with this vision,” he said.

Chief Joseph’s gesture was widely praised as a demonstration of genuine commitment to uplifting the lives of the people of Orile Imo and promoting sustainable grassroots development.
