The Ogun State chapter of the Association of Nigerian Broadcasters (ANBROAD) on Thursday, August 28, 2025, held the grand finale of its annual Ogun State ANBROAD Week at Edwin’s Hall, Leme, Abeokuta.
The colourful event featured the investiture of patrons, patronesses, advisers, as well as award presentations to deserving personalities who have contributed to the growth of society.
One of the major highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of the “Outstanding Regional Head Award” to the Ogun State Regional Head of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Engr. AbdulRasaq Jimoh.
The award, which recognized his exceptional performance in tackling electricity challenges across the state, was received on his behalf by Engr. Abiodun Ogun and presented by Elder Kola Adeleye.
Speaking after receiving the award on behalf of his boss, Engr. Ogun expressed gratitude to the association, noting that the recognition would serve as encouragement for Engr. Jimoh to redouble his efforts.
He said the IBEDC regional head has been passionate about delivering reliable electricity to residents of Ogun State, adding that the company remains committed to solving people’s problems in the power sector and bringing electricity to the doorsteps of citizens.
Engr. Jimoh, who has served as IBEDC’s regional head for Ogun State in recent years, is widely known for his accessibility and pragmatic approach to addressing customer complaints.
Under his leadership, IBEDC in Ogun has reportedly recorded significant improvements in power supply and response to faults, earning him the respect and admiration of both electricity consumers and community stakeholders.
In his remarks, the Governor of ANBROAD, Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Goke Gbenga Fadiran, described Engr. Jimoh as the most outstanding IBEDC Regional Head the state has witnessed.
He noted that while his predecessors made contributions in their own time, Jimoh’s tenure stood out for his commitment to solving electricity challenges with transparency and accountability.
According to him, the numerous positive testimonies received from the public played a key role in the decision to honour him.
The well-attended ceremony drew broadcasters from both state and national levels, alongside other dignitaries, who commended ANBROAD for recognizing excellence while strengthening the bond between media practitioners and critical stakeholders.
Guests at the event also hailed the association for using its platform to celebrate individuals whose work has brought tangible impact to the lives of ordinary people in Ogun State.
