Ontario, Canada – The vibrant Nigerian community in the diaspora is set to experience a historic gathering as the curtain rises today on the 2025 Solteque Canada Trade Mission in Ontario, Canada.
The five-day event, scheduled to run until Friday, August 22, 2025, will bring together Nigerians from across North America and beyond in a celebration of culture, commerce, and collaboration.
A Platform for Business and Culture
The convener of the mission, Chief Olawale Olaleye, the Bobawoga of Orílé-Ìtẹsi, described the programme as a unique blend of trade exhibition and cultural promotion. According to him, this year’s edition will feature the promotion of cultural fabrics, a real estate showcase, African cuisine exhibitions, and a strong focus on financial and business networking opportunities.
“This mission is not just about business transactions,” Chief Olaleye explained. “It is about reconnecting with our roots, creating sustainable economic partnerships, and ensuring that Nigeria’s creative and entrepreneurial spirit takes its rightful place on the global stage.”
Venue and Activities
The prestigious Emerald Banquet Hall, 55 Guided Court, Etobicoke, Ontario (ON M9V5G2), has been chosen as the venue for this year’s edition. The hall will serve as a hub of activity, welcoming entrepreneurs, investors, cultural ambassadors, and policy makers throughout the five-day programme.
Activities lined up include:
Showcasing of Adirẹ and other cultural fabrics, highlighting Nigeria’s artistry and craftsmanship.
Real estate exhibitions, connecting Nigerians in diaspora with housing and investment opportunities back home.
African cuisine festival, offering a taste of Nigeria’s culinary diversity.
Business networking sessions, designed to build bridges between Nigerian businesses and international partners.
Echoes of Past Success
The Solteque Canada Trade Mission has grown in influence since its inception. The 2024 edition recorded remarkable successes, particularly in the promotion of local fabrics, food exports, and diaspora investment opportunities. It also provided avenues for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to access new markets.
This year’s edition is expected to surpass previous records, with more participants, more sectors represented, and stronger partnerships forged.
Community and Economic Impact
The mission is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s image abroad and open new doors for investment inflows into key sectors of the economy. For the Nigerian community in Canada and beyond, it also serves as a rallying point to celebrate identity, strengthen cultural ties, and give back to the homeland.
