As the Remo Federal Constituency by-election approaches, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Hon. Oluwaseyi Osho, has declared that his wealth of political and legislative experience gives him a clear edge over other contenders for the House of Representatives seat.
Speaking on Tuesday during the Meet the Press programme organised by the Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Abeokuta, the former Ogun State House of Assembly member stressed that the National Assembly requires competent legislators who can deliver from day one.
“We don’t need someone who will start learning how to facilitate projects from scratch. We need someone with experience, and I’m proud to say I have that experience. I’ve served in local government and the State Assembly, and I’m ready for the next challenge,” Osho said.
Highlighting his qualifications, Osho described himself as a lawyer, legislator, and lawmaker with a proven track record in governance — credentials he said none of his opponents possess.
“Among all the candidates, I stand out. None of them have government or executive experience, or a background in law. I believe I’m the best person to represent my people, and my people know it too. I’m confident, not complacent, and I have faith in God who has brought me this far,” he stated.
Osho credited his connection with the electorate to numerous people-oriented projects he initiated through the May 5 Foundation, both during and after his tenure in office. He also described the ADC as “the rave of the moment” in Nigeria and Ogun State, noting that recent defections from the PDP to the ADC have strengthened the party.
“This election is not just about personality or party; it is about having a formidable candidate with connections across local governments,” he said.
If elected, Osho promised to consolidate on the legacy projects of the late Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga Ijaya and to focus on youth empowerment, education, and infrastructural development.
Dismissing claims that Remo is a PDP stronghold, Osho reiterated that vast experience is crucial for effectively representing the constituency at the National Assembly.
