The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed receiving the contact details of petitioners seeking the recall of suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central.
This development comes after INEC stated on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, that the petitioners had failed to provide necessary contact information, including addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, as required by the Commission’s Regulations and Guidelines for Recall 2024.
National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, provided the update, stating that the petitioners submitted their contact information on Wednesday, March 26.
According to Olumekun, the commission has written to notify Akpoti-Uduaghan about the receipt of the petition, delivering the letter to her official address.
Copies of the letter have been sent to the presiding officer of the Senate and published on the INEC website.
The next step in the recall process involves scrutinizing the list of signatories submitted by the petitioners to verify that the petition has been signed by more than 50% of registered voters in the constituency.
This verification process will take place in the coming days, with the outcome made public. The results will determine the next steps in the recall process.
