The Edo State Security Corp has arrested three suspects in connection with kidnapping in Uromi, Esan North East Local Governments area of Edo State. The suspects, Asene Ogah, 49; Ibhafidon Eric, 29; and Ekpu Godfrey, 44, were arrested after responding to a distress call from a woman who claimed that kidnappers were in her house.
According to the Commander of the Edo State Security Corp, CP Friday Ibadin (retd.), his men achieved this feat on Tuesday while on patrol and bush combing of Esan land. The woman, Ufuha Rita, had called for help, and after her rescue, she led the security team to the suspects’ houses, where three of the seven men who invaded her residence were arrested.
Two locally made pump action guns were found with the suspects, who have made past revelations of their kidnapping activities. The Edo State Security Corp will hand over the suspects to the police for further investigation into the alleged kidnapping.
CP Ibadin noted that his men had received several complaints from Esan land about frequent kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the area. He assured that the Edo State Security Corp is committed to ensuring the safety and security of the people of Edo State.
The victim, Ufuha Rita, thanked the Edo State Security Corp for saving her life and called on the relevant security agencies to bring her tormentors to justice. One of the suspects confessed to having been involved in kidnapping in the past but claimed to have changed his ways.
The arrest of the three suspects is a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping in Edo State. The state government has been working to address the issue of kidnapping, and this arrest is a testament to the efforts of the security agencies.
