Lagos State Government Orders Immediate Closure of Oshodi Pedestrian Bridge
The Lagos State Government has shut down the pedestrian bridge connecting Oshodi Bus Terminals 2 and 3 due to safety concerns. The government raised alarms over the bridge’s safety and structural integrity, prompting the immediate closure.
Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, issued the order in a statement released on Friday, expressing concerns about the bridge’s condition. The commissioner mandated the contractor responsible for the initial construction of the terminal to place concrete barriers at the entrances leading to the bridge.
The purpose of the barriers is to safeguard the lives of pedestrians who use the infrastructure. This precautionary measure will prevent any potential accidents while the bridge undergoes a comprehensive structural integrity assessment.

In the meantime, pedestrians are advised to use an alternative bridge located 30 meters away. This temporary measure will ensure the safety of pedestrians while the assessment is conducted.
