The Ogun State Government has embarked on an ambitious project to rehabilitate technical colleges across the state, aiming to attract more students to technical education. According to Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology, the initiative will enable students to compete favorably with their counterparts nationwide and contribute to closing the skills gap ¹.
Prof. Arigbabu made this statement during an inspection of the ongoing rehabilitation of Government Technical Colleges at Idiaba and Isabo, Abeokuta. He expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, noting that the revamped structures will significantly enhance learning skills, practical learning, creativity, and academic excellence.
The Commissioner emphasized that the upgraded facilities will not only attract more students to technical education but also increase their employability and prepare them for entrepreneurial opportunities in various industries. He urged beneficiaries of the Ogun Girls TVET scholarship to make the most of the opportunity.
Hon. Adebola Sofela, the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, commended the Ogun State Government for prioritizing technical education. He noted that the initiative aligns with the government’s vision of producing a skilled workforce capable of meeting local and international market demands.
The rehabilitation project is part of OGSTEP’s commitment to improving economic livelihoods through strategic interventions in education and skills development.
