Katsina State Police Command Foils Bandit Attack, Kills Seven
A daring operation by the Katsina State Police Command has resulted in the foiling of a bandit attack on Ruwan Doruwa village in Dutsinma Local Government Area. The police successfully neutralized seven suspected bandits and recovered 61 cows, 44 sheep, two donkeys, one goat, and one dog.
According to the Katsina police spokesperson, Sadiq Abubakar, the incident occurred on Saturday at about 9:00 a.m. A distress call was received at the Dutsinma Divisional Police Headquarters, reporting an attack by suspected bandits armed with AK-47 rifles.
The police promptly mobilized other security agencies and vigilantes and visited the scene. Upon arrival, the team engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle, resulting in the death of seven bandits. The remaining bandits fled the scene with various degrees of injuries, abandoning the suspected rustled animals.
The Commissioner of Police in Katsina, Aliyu Musa, commended the police operatives for their gallantry, valour, and professionalism. He reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of members of the public.
The police chief called on members of the public to continue supporting the command by providing timely and useful information. This, he said, would help the command in its ongoing fight against all forms of crime and criminality in the state.
Katsina is one of the Northwest states most affected by banditry in Nigeria. Thousands of people have been killed, kidnapped, or displaced in recent years by bandits operating mainly in rural areas.
The successful operation by the Katsina State Police Command is a significant boost to the state’s security efforts. The command’s commitment to protecting lives and property is laudable, and its collaboration with other security agencies and vigilantes is crucial in the fight against banditry.
The recovery of the rustled animals is also a welcome development, as it will bring relief to the affected communities. The police command’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of the public are commendable, and its operations will hopefully continue to yield positive results.
