Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Oluwasesan Fagbayi, has emphasized the importance of culture as a means of identification, urging parents to speak Yoruba language to their children and teachers to incorporate it into primary school education.
Fagbayi highlighted the efforts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism under his leadership, which include promoting cultural practices among different religious groups in the state. He commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for his support, noting that the government’s recognition of culture and heritage has led to the approval of Isese Day festival on August 20 of every year.
The Commissioner also stressed the need for religious tolerance, emphasizing that cultural festivals like the Lisabi festival bring together local and international tourists, creating awareness for tourism globally.
Fagbayi’s commitment to preserving and promoting Yoruba culture and language is evident in his efforts to sensitize people on the importance of harnessing and utilizing various arts, culture, and tourism products.
