A 55-year-old man, Sunday Abidoye, was found dead in his room at Creestar Hotel in GRA, Sagamu, on Wednesday, according to the Ogun State Police Command ¹. The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement released in Abeokuta.
The police were alerted to the discovery by the hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Oluwole. Upon receiving the report, detectives visited the scene and found Abidoye’s body in a car outside the hotel, ready to be taken to the morgue by his family.
Abidoye’s brother, Jimoh Godday, reported that Sunday had arrived in Nigeria from the USA on Saturday. After failing to reach him on Monday, Godday visited the hotel, gained access to the room with a spare key, and found his brother’s lifeless body.
The police recovered various drugs and traditional medicines from the room, and the bed was soaked with a mysterious liquid substance.
A friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, revealed that Abidoye had complained of illness and purchased nine different types of medication the previous day.
The police have evacuated the body to OOUTH Morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
