A 25-year-old auxiliary nurse, Jimoh Akeem, has been arrested by the Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, for allegedly stealing motorcycles, clothes, and generators in Ondo town ¹. Akeem, who works at Ogunye Hospital, confessed to the crimes at the Amotekun headquarters in Akure.
Akeem’s confession revealed that he started stealing this year and had stolen three motorcycles so far. He claimed that his first theft occurred at Ajagbale Quarters in Ondo town, where he stole a motorcycle. However, he admitted to having a partner in crime, and together they would enter compounds at night to steal motorcycles.
The stolen motorcycles were sold to a buyer in Abeokuta for ₦450,000 each, while clothes stolen from homes were sold to women for ₦300,000. Akeem also admitted to stealing generators at night ¹.
Akeem’s modus operandi involved randomly searching for motorcycles, usually operating alone but sometimes with colleagues. He claimed to have no specific reason for stealing.
The arrested nurse revealed that he had a buyer in Ijebu Ode, known as Goma, whom he met through a friend. This connection facilitated the sale of stolen goods.
Akeem’s arrest marks his second time facing theft charges. His previous arrest suggests a pattern of criminal behavior ¹.
