Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) for ranking the state among the top performers in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) nationwide.
Speaking at the public unveiling of Olumo Courts service apartments in Abeokuta, Abiodun cited the NBS report, highlighting the state’s economic resilience and growth.
According to the report, Ogun State generated more revenue than five states in one zone and six in another in 2023.
Abiodun attributed this success to his administration’s policies, which have expanded the state’s economic base, reducing reliance on federal allocations.
The governor described Olumo Courts as a significant project aimed at enhancing residents’ quality of life.
Located in Ibara, Abeokuta, Olumo Courts features 36 luxury smart apartments with modern amenities.
Abiodun acknowledged criticism of his administration’s urban regeneration efforts in Ibara’s Government Reserved Area (GRA).
However, he emphasized that Olumo Courts’ successful establishment has strengthened his administration’s resolve to transform urban areas.
The project’s approval process took 17 months due to necessary redesigns to align with urban regeneration goals.
Prince Rotimi Martins described Olumo Courts as the first smart city estate in the GRA, symbolizing growth and investment potential.
Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo and Senator Iyabo Obasanjo also praised the project, highlighting its potential to foster development and position Abeokuta as a beautiful city ready to welcome the world.
