The Ogun State branch of the National Butchers Union of Nigeria has inaugurated its new executives, marking a significant milestone for the association.
The event, which took place recently, saw prominent leaders of the association, including Chief Amologbe, Chairman of Ogun West Senatorial District (Yewa-Awori), and Alhaji Iliasu Salami Ayeye, Ogun State Baba Alaje, emphasize the importance of taking the profession to the next level.
Chief Amologbe noted that the perception of butchers as illiterates has changed, with many graduates now among their ranks. He urged the new generation to approach the job with passion and dedication.
Alhaji Iliasu Salami Ayeye highlighted the lucrative nature of the profession, stating that it now fetches significant income for members. He also commended the association’s emphasis on education, citing members’ enthusiasm for sending their children to higher institutions.
Alhaji Hassan Isiaka Ayelonise, State Vice Chairman, stressed the need for cooperation between the government and the association for greater development. He also emphasized the importance of patience and tolerance among members.
The new executives, including Abdul Waheed Ayinla, Oluomo Alapata, and Alhaji Dawodu Ayinde Tijani, Osi of Ogun State Butchers Association, pledged to take the association to greater heights.
Alhaji Dawodu Ayinde Tijani, whose father once held his position, advised unemployed graduates to consider the profession, citing its lucrativeness.
Olugbenga Oyewumi, Babalaje of the South West, emphasized job security and hygiene in the profession, encouraging youths to join.
The inauguration ceremony was seen as a symbol of unity and cooperation within the association, with leaders urging members to be good ambassadors and maintain a clean environment.
