…Calls For Gov. Abiodun Urgent Intervention
A political storm is brewing in Ohunbe Ward, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, as allegations of fraudulent activities and misconduct emerge around Ward Chairman, Mr Fatunmbi Matthew of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a petition obtained by our correspondent through the ward Secretary Mr Sunday Akanni Amos accused Mr. Matthew of attempting to impose an aspirant, Shogo Edun, as the Councillorship candidate.
Mr. Fatumbi allegedly collected a sum of Five Hundred Thousand Naira #500,000 from Mr. Edun, promising to secure his selection as the Councillorship candidate.
Our correspondent gathered that Sunday Opeisa one of the aspirants from the ward has been selected as the authentic Councillorship candidate by the ward leaders of the party.
The ward leaders, including the Secretary, have expressed their support for Mr. Opeisa, praising his integrity and commitment to the community, therefore acused Mr. Fatunmbi and Mr. Adegbite of violating party rules and regulations.
The Ward Secretary also criticized Mr.Adegbite for attempting to impose his will on the party, stating that he is a newcomer who was welcomed into the party but has only attended one leadership meeting.
He emphasized that party decisions should be final and not subject to individual wills.
Mr Fatunmbi also accused of collecting a motorcycle, placed on salary from the past Councillor in the ward, which he wants to replicate with Shogo Edun, that’s why he wants his emergence by all means.
They also accused Shogo Edun of not being a party person, has no membership card, failed to deliver his polling units in the last election because he’s not popular, but the ward chairman wants to impose him as candidate because he collected money from him.”
Mr Akanni also accused Fatunmbi of trying to mislead other ward leaders because of money, and the majority of the leaders that supported Fatunmbi’s actions are new comers in the party.
He explained that the authentic APC members are not with ward Chairman’s action, that’s why they used former members’ signatory in the list they submitted.
According to him “Fatunmbi should be transparent and accountable for his actions as an evangelist he claims to be and support Sunday Opeisa who is know in the party and also work for the progress of the party.
“The ward leaders have unanimously endorsed Sunday Opeisa as their preferred candidate for the Councillorship position.”
“They have expressed their strong support for his candidacy, acknowledging his authenticity and commitment to the party.”, Mr Akanni said.
He also expressed disappointment and outrage over the ward chairman and Mr Adegbite actions due to the money they all collected to secure Shogo Edun selection, which he believe violate party rules and regulations.
They also accused the Ward Chairman to has consistently claimed that his decisions are final and cannot be changed by anyone, including the state Governor.
All the ward leaders in Ohunbe Ward therefore appealed to the state Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun to come to their rescue and not allowed the ward chairman manipulate the decision of party.
